TSUNAMI APPEAL

The recent tsunami has created immense destruction in its path. Although the state of Tamil Nadu has not

suffered as much damage as other parts of the world, hundreds of people in ISSI’s home district (county) of 

Pudukottai and even more so in the nearby districts of Nagapattinam and Cuddalore have been killed and

The survivors of this “epic” tragedy need your help. Immediate aid is being sought in order to provide the 

best possible relief for the victims’ families and loved ones. Assistance and resources are also needed for 

the reconstruction effort.

Donations or gifts can be made in kind or cash. Please give generously. Bear in mind that donating directly 

to a local NGO like us means less money spent on administrative expenses, which are typically much higher at 

international organizations. 

We need your help (both cash & kind) immediately for the benefit of over 5,000 people. Here’s a list of items 

we need urgently:

-          Supply of food items like rice, cereals, sugar, biscuits and milk powder etc.

-          Distribution of clothes for all age groups, blankets & mats

-          Supply of pure drinking water by lorry/tanker for the affected people accommodated in 10 camps

-          Basic medicine bandages and plasters etc.

-          Small children below 5 years in the camps are badly in need of milk powder. As many mothers are in 

      the hospitals for treatment and recovery they are unable to give breast milk for the small children. So, 

      we urgently need to supply milk powder and nutritional supplements, which will prevent malnutrition 

     and prevent the children from various diseases.
